OBITUARY
In Loving Memory of Jerry Jacobs
April 25, 1929 – October 8, 2026
Jerry Jacobs, Holocaust survivor, visionary entrepreneur, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at the age of 97, with Lois, his beloved wife and partner of 55 years, by his side.
Born in Łódź, Poland, Jerry survived the unimaginable horrors of the Holocaust, emerging with extraordinary resilience, determination, and an indomitable spirit. After immigrating to the United States in 1947, he built a remarkable life through perseverance, ambition, and an unwavering belief in possibility. A shrewd entrepreneur with exceptional vision and business acumen, Jerry established an impressive legacy of success in the textile and real estate industries. His keen instincts, determination, and ability to recognize opportunity distinguished him throughout his business career.
Yet Jerry’s accomplishments extended far beyond the business world. Deeply committed to honoring those who perished in the Holocaust and ensuring that future generations would never forget, he founded the Interfaith Committee of Remembrance (ICOR) in New York City. Through extraordinary Holocaust remembrance concerts, Jerry united people of different faiths and backgrounds, using the universal language of music to inspire compassion, understanding, and remembrance. His dedication to preserving history and promoting humanity became an enduring part of his legacy.
Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He shared 55 years of love, companionship, and devotion with his beloved Lois, who remained faithfully by his side until his final moments. He leaves behind two children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, each a cherished part of the life and legacy he built.
From surviving one of history’s darkest chapters to achieving extraordinary professional success and dedicating himself to the service of others, Jerry lived a life of remarkable purpose. His courage, vision, generosity, and enduring spirit touched countless lives and will continue to inspire generations to come.
May his memory forever be a blessing.
