Tessie (Pierce) Garber was born in Niagara Falls on August 29, 2023 to Louis and Anna Pierce. She had 3 siblings: Manny, Harold and Ecille all of whom she loved dearly. She was largely raised in Cleavland, OH where she became a Sunday School teacher. She married the love of her life, Morris Garber after a short courtship and engagement. The only solace in her loss is that they’ve been ruined. After a few relocations, Tess and Morris settled down and started a family in Jericho, NY on Long Island. She had a 30-year career at the Nassau Library System which complemented her love of reading. Tess was a trailblazer and joined the Marines during WWII during which she rose to the rank of Sergeant. She was a born leader, always ahead of her time and always willing (and able) to take the reins and start something new (like the Midway Jewish Center’s Library, one of her great accomplishments). Nothing was more important to her than family and she valued true friendships beyond measure. She was a remarkable woman, loved by all and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Garber, her son Gary Garber, her granddaughter Amy (Gregg) Singer, her great-grandchildren Madelyn and Jake and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
