OBITUARY

Susan Beth Ringle, 84, of Islip, NY, passed away on Monday, February 19.
Funeral service will be held at Star of David Memorial Chapel, West Babylon on Friday, February 23 at 10:00 AM with Rabbi Rosenthal of B’nai Israel Reform Temple officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Ararat, Lindenhurst. Shiva will be held at the home of Karen and Alan Sobel, 12 Tern Court, East Islip immediately following burial until 6:00 PM; Shiva resumes Saturday, February 24, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Star of David Memorial Chapel will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Susan was born in Brooklyn to Louis and Edna Edelman on September 24, 1939. She went to Islip High School and was the Class of 1957 Salutatorian. She graduated from University of Rochester and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education from Queens College. Susan was a beloved 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Beach Street Junior High School in West Islip for 34 years.
Susan is survived by her husband, Arnold, of Islip, her daughters, Sharon and Jenny; her son, Adam; her six grandchildren, Leah, Jake, Elana, Emma, Adina, and Samuel; her sister, Maxine; her niece, Amy; and nephews, Seth and David.

I met Susan when she and I flew up to the University of Rochester for interviews in 1957. Ever since then, we were friends. I will miss her phone chats, her wonderful since of humor, her love of her family, and much more.
