OBITUARY

**Sharon Olarsch Albano**, 83, of Merrick, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 9, at South Nassau/Mount Sinai Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, following cardiac arrest.

Sharon was born on September 16, 1942, in **Bensonhurst, Brooklyn**, to Louise Olarsch and Martha Intner Olarsch. It was there, at just 15 years old, that she met the love of her life, Angelo. From that moment on, they were inseparable—holding hands and dancing through life together for 63 beautiful years, building a marriage rooted in devotion, laughter, and enduring love.

Sharon lived life to the fullest, embracing every minute of every day with energy, warmth, and joy. Her vibrant spirit, deep love for her family, and unwavering presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved children: her son, Charles “Chuck” Albano, and his wife, Anne Schmidt Albano; and her daughter, Marissa Albano-Salli, and her husband, Dominic Salli. Sharon was a devoted and proud grandmother to Danilo Salli and Stefano Salli, who brought her endless happiness. She is also survived by her dear sister, Carol Olarsch Curcio, and her loving nieces and nephews: Adam Curcio, Jami Correia, Jaret Curcio, and Dana Telericio.

Please excuse Sharon if she’s late to this event honoring her life. She is going to swing by a museum to see a new exhibit, take in a couple of Broadway shows, check out a few books from the library, visit a friend, cut up an orange and throw it in a bag, and run to the bathroom a couple of times. She says it’s okay to start without her.

Sharon’s legacy of love, curiosity, laughter, and living life wholeheartedly will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

We are very sad about the passing Aunt Sharon and have been all sharing fond memories of times we’ve had together. Our mother, Phyllis, Uncle Angelo’s sister, has been telling many heartwarming stories. She sends her deepest love to everyone. All of us here in Cape May and in Chicago wish everyone peace and comfort. We love you all! – Jeanine and Sal

My mother was a young girl the first day she met your mom. They were sitting in the kitchen at 7801 19th, upstairs. Uncle Ang was introducing her to the family, around age 18. She was wearing a beautiful white outfit. My mom sat next to her and “slurped” her spaghetti into her mouth and it went all over her lovely sweater! This was certainly an intro to the family! <3

Aunt Sharon greatly helped my mother, Phyllis, as a teenager, with her Math work at home. When we were all spending summertime in the 70s at the Mastic Beach house, I remember watching Aunt Sharon and Uncle Angelo outside playing basketball ball, going on the backs of the bikes. I’d be on the back of my moms and I could see Marissa on the back of Aunt Sharon’s riding to the park or stores. We would all play board games, go fishing and I also remember Aunt Sharon taught me how to make macrame items. As a young adult, Aunt Sharon and Uncle Ang drove to Lido beach one afternoon to help get me out of a “jam” and she being a sensible adult talked to me about the situation. Which greatly helped me that day. ( Don’t tell my parents that one, I’m only 57.) I have so many wonderful memories of our times together. I wish you, from my heart, again, peace and comfort at this time.
