Tepper, Marvin B.

Marvin B. Tepper died July 25, 2018, at the age of 86. Adored husband of 64 years to Elise. Treasured father of Shelley, Edward, and Jacqueline, and beloved grandfather of Paul, Veronica, Eli, Rebecca, Dean, Jordan, Dylan, Gregory, and Benjamin. He was the devoted son of Jacob and Rebecca and older brother of Donald and Elida, and Irwin and Joan.

Marvin had a distinguished career as an attorney, business and financial strategist, entrepreneur, and academic scholar. He served as senior partner and principal of Sterling Equities. Marvin began his career as a young attorney and eventual managing partner of the law firm, Golenbock & Barrell, after a Judicial Clerkship to Alexander Bicks, formerly Adjunct Professor and Instructor at NYU School of Law. Mr Tepper was the valedictorian cum laude graduate of the NYU School of Law and Comment Editor of Law Review. He graduated from the College School of Arts of New York University where he achieved the highest academic distinctions as valedictorian, Phi Beta Kappa, and cum laude in addition to playing quarterback for the varsity football team and an active member of the French Club. Marvin Tepper was a honor student and valedictorian at Bronx High School of Science and letterman on the varsity baseball and basketball teams. His civic and philanthropic activities included Chairman of the Board of Zoning for the Village of Sands Point for an unprecedented 24 years, Chairman and Member, Board of Appeals of the Village Club Commission of Sands Point, NY, Board Member of the Port Washington Library, Board Member of Lark Play Development, Landmark on Main Street Advisory Council, Trustee and Officer of the Parker Jewish Institute, Trustee of NYU Law Review, and Trustee of the Nassau County Museum of Fine Art in Roslyn, New York, and avid patron of The Metropolitan Opera, The New York Philharmonic, and Carnegie Hall.

Marvin served as First Lieutenant US Army including legal and civic duties in the US and abroad including service as US liaison officer to foreign municipality during transition from occupied to sovereign status.

Marvin was a true humanitarian and mentor. He touched so many lives as a trusted friend, advisor, and was an inspiration to us all. He will truly be missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Port Washington Public Library or The NYU School of Law.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 29, noon, at Star of David Memorial Chapels, 1240 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704
