OBITUARY

Nancy Sue Clayton passed away on August 14, 2026, surrounded by her family in her final hours.

For over 60 years, she was a fiercely devoted mother to her sons Robert and Michael. She lived with her husband Zane, who made her life beautiful, for over 30 years. She was very close with her grandchildren, Jamie and Max.

She was a beloved sister to Slyvia, daughter to Rose, and aunt to Bonnie, Lance, Valerie, Stacie, and Alison. Alison was like a daughter to her. She became the matriarch of her extended family, including Melissa, Alex, and Jeremy.

Though Nancy struggled with many challenges throughout her life, including chronic heart conditions, she faced them with courage. Other than her family, her foremost passion was athletic activity, including riding horses, rowing, and CrossFit. Even after multiple heart surgeries, she continued to challenge herself by lifting weights.

She will be remembered for her courage and strength in the face of her many health conditions, and her fierce devotion to those she loved. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nancy played such a tremendous role in my life. She was my mentor, confidante, cheer-leader, and always went the extra mile to make sure all of our family members had her love and support. She gave so much of herself, and I was lucky to have such a wonderful aunt who was always just a phone call away. She showed up for our family for all of the important milestones and celebrated and comforted in both good and difficult times. She always would tell me I was like a daughter to her, which made me feel special. Over the last couple of decades, Nancy stepped in where my mother left off. I couldn’t have asked for a better aunt and friend. Miss you xoxoxo

Nancy was the most cherished colleague and friend I’ve ever had. When I worked at Guildnet, I was just a junior employee, but Nancy was incredibly approachable and treated everyone equally. She was a fair, impartial, kind, and extremely good-natured person. I admired her greatly; she was my role model. I will always remember you, my beloved colleague and friend, Nancy Clayton. I love you .
