OBITUARY

We mourn the passing of our beloved mother, Lily Schual, who passed on January 24, 2026 at the age of 97. She is survived by her daughters, Nora, Myra, and Jacqueline, her grandchildren, Adam, Brigitte, and Aaron, and her great grandchildren. All who knew her adored her wit and grace, as well as her strength and compassion.

She lived a full life at times filled with hardship when having to leave Egypt and coming to the United States as a refugee along with her husband and children. She held no bitterness and always showed optimism and hope for the future, with never a harsh word for her family’s upheaval.

She loved her role as a wife and mother, was the adored wife of Dr. Freddy Schual, her devoted husband who predeceased her, and embraced her sons-in-law, Neal, Tony, and Eddie, and her grandchildren’s spouses, Julie and Justin. She welcomed them into her family with all the warmth in her heart, and her smile touched all their hearts.

She worked as a real estate agent and for many years was a favorite substitute teacher in the Babylon and Brentwood school districts. Lily was also an amazing cook and passed on many wonderful Middle Eastern recipes to her daughters and granddaughter who are carrying on her culinary traditions.

I love you , Tante Lily. You made me feel loved no matter where I was or what I did. When I’m cooking I think of you. Wow! Lance will miss your humor that he understood. He’ll never forget the time you said ,”No flirting!” When he kissed me on my cheek at your birthday party. That was classic Lily. We love you! We miss you! I will keep scratching those scratchies on behalf of you.
Love always,
Mia, Samantha and Lance.
