OBITUARY
Doris Graylin, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born on October 8, 1929 in Brooklyn to Sadie and Herman Haimowitz. She graduated from Brooklyn College and earned a master’s degree in education later on. She was a kindergarten and 2nd grade elementary school teacher, for a majority of time at PS 88 in Ridgewood, Queens, as well as a union representative of her school. She married Sy Graylin on November 10, 1951 at Rosoff’s in New York City. They were married 55 years and had two daughters, Hermine and Audrey Graylin. As a family, they lived in Bay Terrace and Bayside, Queens, NY. Doris had a passion for the opera, ballet, ice cream at night, lobster, trips to Maine, martinis before dinner, time in the Berkshires, and her family. She was known for her directness and honesty, and was a strong woman who endured much in her life.
