WE have lost a lovely man. A husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and friend.
I first met Barry in 1957 when my sister Toby brought him as her date to my Sweet Sixteen party.  Also present was Joel, the boyfriend she was phasing out, and the minute I saw Barry I voted in his favor.  Barry was tall, dark and handsome and that was the swoon criteria of the 1950’s. Barry surpassed that though, because in addition, he was the strong, silent type. GO BARRY, I thought. And, sure enough this was followed by their engagement and wedding. To see these two in person, radiant in their wedding splendor, was truly a sight to behold.

Over the years Barry and Toby were blessed with three amazing children. Under his sometimes curmudgeon-y surface, if you caught a glimpse of Barry off guard, you could see he was really a sensitive soul by how he gazed with pride, tenderness and love at his children. The diligence and determination with which Barry supported his family through his working years could only have been born of deep and abiding love for his family. For years, he worked two jobs to provide them with a beautiful home and everything else they needed to grow into the terrific, compassionate adults they are.

It brings comfort to know that his children were all at their father’s side, and still are, providing him with a peaceful and loving transition into the next world and the reassurance he will be remembered and loved.

Barry had a tender heart! May he rest in peace, knowing he is still loved, and greatly missed, in this world.

Love,
Aunt Adrianne
