Cremation Catalogue of Urns
Today, many families are choosing cremation rather than the traditional burial in a cemetery. A family's or individual's choice to cremate may be based upon spiritual, religious, emotional, or economic reasons. Whatever the reason, Star of David can provide the service you wish at an affordable price.
If you have decided against burial and would prefer cremation instead, there are choices that you will need to make regarding the type of cremation service you wish us to provide.
Types of Cremation Services
A cremation service can be quite similar to a traditional funeral service with the only difference being how matters are handled at the end of the service-whether the deceased will be taken to a cemetery for burial or a crematory for cremation. You can choose to have a ceremony with the deceased present and in a casket prior to the actual cremation. Or, you may elect to have the cremation performed first and then hold a memorial service in our chapel with or without the ashes present. This method is called “Direct Cremation” Because of the nature of this type of service, it will cost less than a cremation with the body present as there is no need for a casket or any type of preparation beforehand.
If you are choosing cremation, you may elect to be present when the deceased is placed in the retort (the device used for the actual cremation) or you may decide to say goodbye prior. You may wish to have a last goodbye with a private viewing in our chapel while the deceased is in the cremation casket.
Ashes
After the cremation, the ashes are returned to us by the crematory within 48 hours, sooner if required, in a plastic container. You may elect to take the ashes in this container or purchase an urn. There are many different types of urns to choose from. You may decide to keep the ashes, bury them, place them in a niche, scatter them, or have them sprinkled at sea. However you decide, you may choose from our selection of urns, purchase one on your own, or just utilize the plastic container they are returned in from the crematory.

Urns come in all different shapes and materials and sized to hold the “cremains” (ashes). You may decide that some of the ashes are to be shared which might necessitate a “sharing” urn which is smaller than a standard sized urn. You might also elect to choose a “keepsake” which could be a locket or pendant that can be worn. Clicking on this link will take you to our resource for urns.
