When Death Occurs
Out of New York State

When a death occurs in a city or state not local to where the deceased is to be buried, one phone call to Star of David will set everything in motion to insure that your loved one gets to where they need to go in a timely manner.

For a variety of reasons, people often find themselves residing in a state far from where they own burial property. When they pass away, arrangements need to be made to get them to where they will ultimately be buried. Star of David handles this type of service on a regular basis.

How
We have relationships with funeral homes in every city and state to whom we entrust to handle matters for us in atransporting-deased dignified and professional manner. Upon direction from us, they will transfer the deceased from where the death has occurred to their local funeral home, shelter them, file all of the necessary paperwork to secure the official transfer permit, place the deceased in an airline approved transfer case and then transport them to the local airport, where they see to it that your loved one is placed on the plane to a New York airport. One of the directors from Star of David will be awaiting the arrival of the flight at the terminal to then transfer the deceased to our funeral home. At this point all of the specific arrangements that you have made are carried out.

Call Us First
Although it might seem to make sense to contact a funeral home local to where the death has occurred rather than calling us first, as a rule, it becomes a lot more expensive as there is now involvement with two separate funeral homes vying for a profit.. By utilizing one funeral home, typically the funeral home handling the burial, to act as a “quarterback” the costs become a lot more reasonable as our partner funeral home in the city where the death has occurred charges us a lot less to work on our behalf than they would ordinarily charge a family who calls them directly. 1-866-95-SHOLOM

Costs
As an example, if a family contacted us to handle a transfer from Florida, the fee would consist of $995 plus the airfare which is $370 (please note these are the fees at the time of this writing; please contact us for the current fees) making for a total of $1365 to bring someone back from Florida. Transfer from other states would be comparably priced, varying possibly in airfare. By comparison, if you contacted a funeral home local to where the death has occurred, you could expect to pay at least twice this amount.

For out of state deaths, make one call to Star of David and we'll take care of everything!
